SEATTLE (Oil Monster): The state-owned petroleum business of Qatar, Qatar Energy, declared that it and Shell had signed a long-term contract for the delivery of LNG to China. According to the new sale and purchase agreement (SPA), the Asian nation will receive more than three million tons of LNG annually (MTPA). January of the next year is when the deliveries are expected to start.

The President and CEO of QatarEnergy, H E Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs, commented on the development, saying the business is happy to sign a new long-term LNG SPA with its reliable partner. The new deal will assist Shell in satisfying the needs of its Chinese end users. Additionally, he said, it will increase the company's efforts to satisfy the growing demand from LNG end consumers worldwide.
The SPA marks the 11th LNG supply contract between the two companies.
