SEATTLE (Oil Monster): Qatar Energy- the state-owned petroleum company announced that it has signed a 15-year liquefied natural gas (LNG) Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) with Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) towards supply of around 3 million tons per annum (MTPA) of LNG to Kuwait.
The agreement was signed at a special ceremony held in Kuwait City by His Excellency Mr. Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, the President and CEO of QatarEnergy, and Shaikh Nawaf Saud Al-Nasir Al-Sabah, Deputy Chairman and CEO of KPC. The ceremony was attended by top officials from both Qatar Energy and KPC.
As per terms of the agreement, the agreed LNG volumes will be delivered ex-ship to Kuwait's Al-Zour LNG Terminal starting January next year.
His Excellency Minister Al-Kaabi welcomed the signing of the agreement. The new long-term partnership between KPC and QatarEnergy will play a key role in supporting Kuwait’s sustainability goals, especially in the electricity generation sector. The agreement reflects its commitment to support the future needs of clients, including KPC. Additionally, it underlines the brotherly ties and long-term relationship between both the countries, he said
This is Qatar Energy’s second long term LNG SPA with KPC and is expected to boost bilateral trade between the States of Qatar and Kuwait.
