WindFloat Pacific, developed by Principle Power, is ready to launch in Oregon, creating good-paying jobs for our local workers while raising the profile of the region as a cutting-edge green technology innovator.  WindFloat Pacific will be located off the Oregon Coast, producing cleaner, renewable offshore wind energy and reducing harmful pollution from our environment that threaten our air and water quality. The expansion of wind energy in Oregon would also mean diversification and competition in our energy market, spurring job creation and economic growth across the state.  The unique WindFloat design enables our structures to be fully assembled onshore before being towed to its final location – roughly 15 to 18 miles off the coast. This offshore location is sited over the horizon, preserving our beautiful shoreline views and avoiding whale migration corridors.  Clean, renewable WindFloat energy provides great benefits for Oregon. Launching off the Oregon Coast, WindFloat Pacific can bring home an ability to harness clean, renewable energy while reaping economic and jobs benefits throughout the state.  Windfloat Pacific will invest millions of dollars in the Oregon economy and create hundreds of new Oregon jobs during development, construction, and operations, including jobs for engineers, environmental scientists, technicians, and skilled trades.  The innovative WindFloat design enables structures to be fully assembled onshore before being towed to its final location. This means that final assembly of the tower, blades, and turbine are affixed to the floating platform will occur in Oregon costal ports, creating new jobs for coastal Oregonians.  Our WindFloat project is just the first step in building out the clean wind energy industry in Oregon, putting into motion opportunities for thousands of jobs and significant economic benefits for our state.

WindFloat Pacific will spur local job training, assembly facilities, and research right here in Oregon – laying the vey foundation our state needs to become leader in the clean energy sector.  As the world’s first commercial floating offshore wind farm, WindFloat Pacific will establish the port facilities, supply chain and skilled labor force needed to develop floating offshore wind farms throughout the Pacific.
