WI Environmental, established in 2008 as a subsidiary of Wandell Industries, is located in Washington State. WI Environmental is the heavy metals remediation expert that can bring any contaminated site into total compliance with state and federal laws, using its innovative, trademarked XR-88TM process. XR-88TMwas researched and developed in both this country and in China for extreme remediation. XR-88TM treats and turns heavy metals and poisons inert, making them harmless to the environment for safe, easy disposal.
Timothy Wandell is a successful entrepreneur, first owning and operating businesses in Arizona and New Mexico. He then bought a macadamia nut farm in Hawaii, developing breathing problems from volcano ash. When no one could solve the problem, he found a solution himself, developing and patenting an air system in 1996 that removes all contaminants. He took that system to China, moving into chemical research and development for pollution remediation. That process resulted in XR-88TM, used to treat stormwater runoff, acid mine drainage and certain types of air pollution.
Wandell grew up in Burien, Washington, attending Kennedy High School. One of his mentors there was his football coach Lou Tice, who founded the Pacific Institute, a research institute in Seattle that works to advance environmental protection, economic development and social equity. Today, Wandell is working to improve our environment around the world with WI Environmental’s clean up processes. He lives near Puget Sound in Washington State.
XR-88TM is a proprietary product that stabilizes and renders benign a wide variety of metals (such as uranium, copper, hexavalent chromium, nickel, zinc, lead, arsenic and many others) that are found in industrial waste, acid mine drainage and nuclear power plant radioactive waste waters. XR-88TM effectively and efficiently neutralizes heavy metals contaminants found in water, soil, and sludge .
The chemical has been extensively tested in the United States and China. Wastes treated with XR-88TMpassed every test, including the US Environmental Protection Agency Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (US EPA TCLP) test for leachability of trapped metals in the remaining sludge, thus yielding a non-hazardous waste. For example, after treatment with XR-88TM electroplating liquids that had been contaminated with metals showed no detectable levels of the metals and the resulting sludge which contained the stabilized metals from the liquid passed the leachability tests in the USA and China.

WI Environmental has developed, tested and applied two worldwide patented and trademarked technologies for use in providing a clean and healthy environment.
The AST Solution is a state-of-the-art advanced air purification technology that is employed in systems without requiring the use of solid filters. The AST Solution applies a patented aqueous filtering system with a combination, as needed, of electrostatic filtering, UV sterilization, germicidal sterilization and additional features to capture and eliminate the following contaminants:
Using a proprietary water-based solution, the AST Solution literally washes the contaminants out of the air without solution leakage and unwanted humidification. The AST Solution does not re-circulate contaminants like many other systems on the market today. The AST Solution can be scaled from small household portable or fixed systems, to retro-fitted systems to new or existing HVAC systems, to large multi-stage systems for industrial purposes including any exhaust emitting device.
The two technologies are used in combination to treat coal or diesel fired generation facilities and many other smokestack or exhaust emitting devices. This application can contribute to large scale global reduction of green house gases and other contaminates affecting peoples’ health throughout the world. Use of the combination system allows for carbon dioxide (CO2) removal while removing heavy metals, NOx and SOx contamination found in the emitted gases. The sludge resulting from this washing technology can be used for building materials – it is Flue Gas Desulphurized (FGD) gypsum with all metals stabilized.
