Waga Energy uses biogas from landfills in the form of biomethane, a renewable substitute for natural gas.
Humanity produces more than 3 billion tonnes of waste per year. Since they cannot be recycled, most of them end up in landfills - commonly called “landfills”
Underground, organic matter degrades and spontaneously produces biogas mainly consisting of methane .
Energy gas, methane (CH 4 ) is the main component of natural gas, this fossil gas that we consume for heating and transport. However, it must be purified to be injected into the networks.
By offering a simple and economical treatment solution for landfill biogas, Waga Energy is paving the way for the exploitation of a new renewable gas field, which can be mobilized very quickly. French landfills will be able to supply 2.4 TWh / year of biomethane from 2023 according to Ademe forecasts, i.e. the gas consumption of a city like Lyon.
