Family owned and operated for 56 years
Lambert J. Van Andel Sr. began Van Andel Propane when he took over a hardware store in Ravenna in 1958. He sold general hardware and appliances under the Ravenna brand. He began the propane end of things when he became a dealer for Dri-gas delivering 60# size propane cylinders for his customers to fuel their gas stoves, water heaters, and clothes dryers. Soon after he started selling 500 gallon tanks for home heating using a 1951 Ford delivery truck to refill the tanks with propane purchased from a friendly competitor several miles away. We like to think because of good service and fair pricing with no extra fees, we have expanded to service the needs of our customers. Residential, farm, and commercial / industrial customers have come to rely on our dependable service for their needs.
What to do if you smell gas
Step 1: If you detect a "rotten egg" smell evacuate the premises and contact your local fire department and propane supplier. Do not touch any electrical outlets, light switches or appliances
Step 2: Extinguish all open flames and immediately leave the area. Never use an open flame to test for propane leaks
Step 3: Go to your propane systems storage vessel and close the vapor service valve.
Step 4: Avoid the lowest points in a room. Propane is heavier than air and will move to these areas.
Step 5: Have your propane system checked if you have any of the following symptoms: headaches, dizziness, loss of muscular control, vomiting, or watering of the eyes
