United Oil has been a part of southern Idaho history since 1939 when it was founded in Twin Falls, Idaho.  It began as a fuel service station with delivery service to farms in Magic Valley.  In the 1940’s it expanded to include a tanker transport division complete with a truck sales & service and a parts department.  In the fall of 1948 R.L. Franklin, Jr. (Bob) established Franklin Oil Company in Caldwell, Idaho.   Home heating oil delivery and farm delivery service were the original components to the business.  In the 1960’s the company began a period of growth which included retail service stations and sales to branded dealers.  Franklin Oil was also a pioneer in commercial “cardlock” fueling ventures.  In 1975 the Franklin family purchased United Oil in Twin Falls to expand its base of operations into south central Idaho.  In the 1990’s United Oil grew again when it purchased Bob Nicholes Oil Company in Caldwell, Jerome Gas & Oil, Buhl Gas & Oil, Stewart Service and Glenns Ferry Oil.  With the purchase of American Energy (RV Oil) in 2000 United Oil grew to include new product lines and service areas.  In May of 2005 United Oil grew again with the acquisition of BriCo of Idaho, a large Chevron-branded fuels and lubricant distributor.  K-Energy, in Gooding, Idaho, became a part of United Oil in 2008.  In 2012 United Oil welcomed the opening of Twin Falls Truck and the acquisition of Black Oil.  United Oil is known throughout the Northwest as a marketer of a wide variety of petroleum fuels and lubricants.  The company is presently managed by third generation Franklin family members and directs its focus to retail locations, agriculture,  warehouses, commercial fueling network, intrastate transport delivery and pipeline terminal services.  As we embark upon the 21st Century United Oil continues to concentrate on its mission of serving southern Idaho with a diverse product line, competitively priced, with prompt and reliable service.  In the coming years we will work  to serve both our employees and customers in the best way possible.

Home Heating Oil

United Oil is one of the region’s most reliable heating oil distributors. Customers appreciate United Oil’s reliable, friendly service.  When the furnace oil tank is full, the  driver retracts the filler hose and makes his way to the next customer. Heating your home with an oil furnace is warm, clean, and economical.

Heating your home with oil is safe. Were you aware that–

• Heating oil cannot explode. If you dropped a lit match into a barrel of oil, it would go out as if dropped in water. Oil must be converted to a fine-particle mist before it will ignite and burn, typically at a temperature of 130° to 140°.

• Oilheat poses an extraordinarily low risk for carbon monoxide poisoning.
