UES and its sister company, Tucson Electric Power, are among a family of utilities owned by Fortis, Canada’s largest investor-owned gas and electric utility holding company. Fortis completed an acquisition of UNS Energy Corporation, TEP’s and UES’ parent company, in August 2014.
UniSource Energy Services provides safe, reliable energy to more than 249,000 customers across Arizona. Our natural gas service reaches about 154,000 customers in northern and southern Arizona, while our electric service reaches more than 95,000 customers in Mohave and Santa Cruz counties.
Management Team
UniSource Energy Services’ daily operations are supervised by local managers who are committed to providing safe, reliable service to their communities. Electric service is provided through a UES subsidiary called UNS Electric, Inc., while natural gas service is provided through a subsidiary called UNS Gas, Inc. These local efforts are overseen and supported by executives at UES’ Tucson-based parent company, UNS Energy Corporation, and sister company Tucson Electric Power (TEP).
Our renewable resources
UniSource Energy Services has an expanding portfolio of clean renewable resources to help provide safe, reliable and affordable electric service to our communities. UniSource’s renewable resources produced more than 172,000 megawatt hours (MWh) of clean power in 2017. That’s more than 10 percent of our total 2017 retail sales, surpassing Arizona’s Renewable Energy Standard requirement of 7 percent for the year. We will continue to invest in innovative, cost-effective renewable programs that offer benefits for all customers.
Reserve your solar power blocks
The Bright Arizona Community Solar Program offers an easy and affordable way to meet your electric needs with locally generated solar power. As a UES customer, you now have the opportunity to purchase solar power in "blocks" of 150 kilowatt hours (kWh) per month. You can buy some or all of your power through the program, reducing or eliminating your energy from conventional resources.
Features and benefits
Minimal cost
Solar power costs more than conventional energy derived from fossil-fueled power plants, so participating in the program will increase your electric bill. Each block replaces the charges for an equivalent amount of conventional power at a rate that currently adds $3.00 to your monthly bill. Program rates must be paid in full each month regardless of actual energy consumption. If the solar energy purchased through the program exceeds actual usage during a monthly billing period, the excess is carried forward to the next billing period as a credit. Any credit remaining after the September billing period will be paid in full as a credit on the next bill.
