St. Thomas Energy Inc. has a history that spans more than 100 years. In 1906, the Hydro-Electric Power Commission of Ontario formed to bring electricity from Niagara Falls to municipalities throughout the province. One of the first public utility commissions to join this publicly owned power grid was St. Thomas. And so, what is today St. Thomas Energy Inc. was born. Following deregulation in the 1990s, St. Thomas Holding Inc. (now Ascent) was officially incorporated as a for-profit entity and became the parent company of St. Thomas Energy Inc. -- wholly owned by the City of St. Thomas. Today, as the local power distributor for St. Thomas, we are proud of the position we have in the community and the level of service that we provide our customers.St. Thomas Energy Inc. is the licensed energy distributor for St. Thomas, Ontario. Regulated by the Ontario Energy Board, we are owned by the Ascent Group of Companies (www.ascent.ca), which is wholly owned by the City of St. Thomas. St. Thomas Energy Inc. is committed to providing safe, reliable electricity and excellent service to our customers. In keeping with that commitment, we have been registered with the ISO 9001 Quality Management System since 1999 and in 2012 we became certified under the internationally recognized Occupational Health and Safety Assessment System (OHSAS) 18001.
