Skellefteå Kraft's history began in 1906, when the City Council decided to build a power plant in Finnforsfallet. The power plant was completed in the summer of 1908. The electricity price was 20 öre / kWh, in today's money value more than 8 kronor. Skellefteå was in 1936 the most electrified city in the whole country. Skellefteå also had Sweden's lowest electricity price and consumed the most kilowatt hours: 927 kWh per person. The consolidated result for 2009 was SEK 527 million. Skellefteå Kraft is today one of the largest investors in the region.
