History
When we debuted as a standalone public company in July 2010, we were a leading low-cost developer and producer of natural gas. Over the past several years, we have been successful in our strategy of growing crude oil production and reserves to develop a more balanced portfolio of both crude oil and natural gas.
Today, our E&P asset portfolio is focused on high-margin, high-return production and reserve growth in some of the most prolific resource plays in the continental United States – including two world-class crude oil provinces, the Williston Basin in North Dakota and the Permian Basin in Texas; two prominent liquids-rich gas plays, the Pinedale Anticline in Wyoming and the Uinta Basin in Utah; and a premier dry gas asset, the Haynesville Shale in Louisiana.
Build a strong future for all QEP stakeholders through the responsible and profitable development of U.S. crude oil and natural gas resources.
Create long-term shareholder value by building and developing a balanced portfolio of premier crude oil and natural gas assets through our employees’ shared commitment to operational excellence, technical innovation, and financial discipline.
QEP’s values – Respectful, Resourceful and Responsible – establish our foundation as we work to achieve our vision and mission.

QEP’s commitment to our communities goes beyond being a good neighbor. We work with our stakeholders to create partnerships that have a positive and meaningful impact, making our communities a better place in which to live and work.
Upholding our commitment to our values – Responsible, Respectful and Resourceful – we have developed an organizational structure and process to help report and resolve community concerns. For example, we work with the Pinedale Anticline Working Group in Wyoming and the three affiliated tribes of the MHA Nation in North Dakota to address community concerns.
We support local communities not only through our operations in the form of capital investment, taxes and employment opportunities, but also through our corporate giving and volunteering program, QEP Cares.
QEP Resources respects the environment and the communities where we live, work and operate. Our adherence to industry regulations and state-of-the-art well construction methods, paired with ongoing water, air and land conservation initiatives, help to ensure we conduct our business with respect and care for the environment, and manage risks to drive sustainable business growth.
We are committed to protecting the health and safety of all personnel who are a part of our operations and those who live in the communities in which we operate. For example, contractors are required to provide their health, safety and environment program and performance data to us via a third party database. We evaluate the information and QEP contractors are hired and managed accordingly.
Wherever we operate, we focus on the protection of the health, safety and well-being of our employees, families, friends and neighbors. These are fundamental responsibilities of our company and of each employee. We believe that no aspect of our operations is of greater importance.
