We are a renewable energy company, focused on the design, installation and service of alternative energy systems. Our main focus is Solar Photovoltaics (PV), Solar Water Heating, and Ground Source Heat Pumps (Geothermal). Energy efficiency consultations, education, and training are also available. Currently serving St. Lawrence and Jefferson Counties, as well as all of Northern New York.
Our Mission
Our mission is to promote alternative energy technologies in a way that allows everyone to become involved. We are committed to the responsible design, installation and implementation of energy efficient systems. We believe public education and knowledge is the key to moving the industry forward. Customer satisfaction is our number one priority.
Highly Qualified Team
Over fourteen combined years of experience designing, installing, and servicing Solar PV Systems makes us one of the most knowledgeable companies in the business. Our diverse team of installers and designers is dedicated to providing the best Solar and Geothermal service in the North Country.
What do Solar PV panels do?
Solar panels convert the energy from the sun into electricity—even on cloudy days. Unlike power generated by fossil fuels, solar energy does not create noise, air, or water pollution. Solar panels, which are made up of photovoltaic (PV) cells, convert sunlight into direct current (DC) electricity throughout the day. Since most homes in the United States run on alternating current (AC) electricity, the DC electricity generated by solar panels is then converted into AC electricity through an inverter. You can use the converted electricity to power your home.
What are the environmental and health benefits of solar energy?
Solar is one of the cleanest forms of renewable energy. By switching to solar, you reduce your carbon footprint and help fight climate change. Solar also reduces the presence of harmful air pollutants like sulfur dioxide, a byproduct of gasoline extraction from oil, which can cause serious health problems. Ultimately, by going solar, you are contributing to a cleaner and healthier community.
GRID-TIED SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEMS
Solar panels convert sun light in to electrical energy in the form of Direct Current (DC) electricity. The DC electricity is then converted to Alternating Current (AC) electricity, that can be used in our homes. The electricity made will be used in your home. If you are making more than you can use, the electricity is pushed back into the Utility Grid where it is consumed by neighboring consumers. When the electricity travel back through the meter, the utility registers the electricity, as a credit to you in the form of kilo-watt hours (kWh). The kWh credit can then be used at times of low or no sunlight. Essentially, you are storing your excess energy, with the utility company, until you need it.
The Science Behind Geothermal
Year-round in this area, the ground stays at about 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Geothermal systems warm or cool water (depending on the air temperature) in underground loops. The heat from this warmed or cooled water is transferred to the heat pump where it is compressed or decompressed to concentrate the effect. This hot air heat or air conditioning is then sent throughout your home. This technology is available ANYWHERE even in areas where bedrock is close to the surface.
Residential Sytems
A geothermal heat pump or ground source heat pump (GSHP) is a central heating and/or cooling system that transfers heat to or from the ground. It uses the earth as a heat source (in the winter) or a heat sink (in the summer). The ground source heat pump (GSHP) system can be installed in a residential structure of any size, anywhere, whether it is single-family or multi-family. GSHPs can be installed on almost any size lot: under lawns, landscaped areas, driveways, or the house itself. An existing house can be retrofitted with a GSHP using the duct work that is already there. The Department of Energy (DOE) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have both endorsed ground source heat pump systems as among the most energy efficient and environmentally friendly heating, cooling, and water heating systems available. In a 1993 report, the EPA concluded that geothermal technologies represent a major opportunity for reducing national energy use and pollution, while delivering comfort, reliability and savings to homeowners.
Commercial Systems
Ground source heat pumps (GSHP)s are a cost effective, energy efficient, and environmentally friendly way of heating and cooling buildings. Both the DOE and the EPA have endorsed the technology. GSHPs reliably deliver quality air-conditioning and heating, on demand, in every season. GSHPs are appropriate for new construction as well as retrofits of older buildings. [Nobel Research Center] Their flexible design requirements make them a good choice for schools, high-rises, government buildings, apartments, and restaurants--almost any commercial property. Lower operating and maintenance costs, durability, and energy conservation make Ground Source Heat Pumps the smart choice for commercial applications.
