Engineering, Procurement, & Construction

We work with developers and system owners to bring their projects from conception to reality.  The design and permitting phase can trip up any project timeline, changing a 10 month project into a 15 month project but with experience we can mitigate any issues early in the process.  We work diligently with our customers to procure suitable land, get an interconnection agreement in place, design an effective, profitable solar project, get all of the local and environmental permits in place, and build a system that will last for the long term. 

Our Approach

With our own equipment we can reduce our costs and project completion times.  We have our own crane for large rooftop arrays, our own ballasted safety rail, fall protection carts and everything else needed to quickly complete projects. Positive Energy also owns the backhoes, excavators, solar specific pile drivers, dump trucks and other equipment to quickly build ground mount solar projects without being dependent on third party subcontractors and their schedules.

Commercial Solar

The combination of incentives available to business owners makes an investment in solar incredibly attractive.  The direct per Watt NYSERDA rebates help to reduce the initial amount a customer needs to finance.  Then the 30% ITC (Investment Tax Credit) can be recovered in one year or multiple years depending on a customers specific tax situation.  Finally, solar arrays are on an accelerated 5 year MACRS Depreciation schedule.  In aggregate, these incentives can lower the payback period for an installation  to as low as 6 years.    Another important factor in any companys electric bill, but especially large ones, is the Demand charges.  The lower the demand charges as a percentage of your electric bills the better the ROI for your project.  Although, even with demand charges as high as 60 - 70% of total costs, returns can still be attractive.
