Our History
Pickett Solar, a division of Don Pickett & Associates, is a family-owned and operated corporation located in Fresno, California. Founded in August of 1988, we have grown into a unique local solar company that offers in-house architectural design, drafting, and civil engineering services. This allows us to efficiently design and build complex projects, saving our clients time and money. Each project is custom designed to meet the needs of our clients. Once designed, the construction projects are carefully supervised and monitored by our local project superintendents. We pride ourselves on the long-term relationships we have with our subcontractors, who help us maintain an excellent reputation for high quality and superior customer satisfaction. Honesty, construction quality, and customer satisfaction has and always will remain our highest priority.
Our roots run deep in our community, evolving from prior family-owned construction companies which have been active in the building industry in Fresno since 1972. Prior business ownership includes P & D Construction, Inc. (Pat & Don Pickett) 1980-1988, and Pickett & Sons Construction Inc. (Joe, Pat & Don Pickett) 1972-1980. Over the years, we’ve built more than 600 industrial and commercial projects plus 225 custom homes. To date, as a local solar company, we’ve installed over 35 MW’s of solar. We are active members of our community including the Building Industry Association of the San Joaquin Valley, CALSEIA, The Fresno County Farm Bureau, The California Fresh Fruit Association, The Almond Alliance of California, and The Western United Dairymen. Our family here at Pickett Solar, takes pride in serving the Central Valley.

Agribusiness
Solar is a great way to farm land differently by harvesting the power of the sun. Investing in solar power for your ag operation makes more sense now than ever, with Net Energy Metering (NEM-A). NEM-A gives farmers the ability to build one array and offset the costs of numerous meters spanning many acres of contiguous property. This results in minimal crop displacement for the same power offsets. In addition, solar array layouts are continually getting more efficient. We can typically fit 1 megawatt of panels in less than a 5-acre footprint. Typically, our Ag clients choose arrays that track the path of the sun due to the greater power yield which, in turn, yield much higher financial savings. With a sun- tracking mounting solution, 1 acre typically yields $50,000 in energy cost offsets. If no ground space can be sacrificed, we can construct a solar support structure that allows for equipment or material storage underneath. All components Pickett Solar uses have been designed for simplicity and long-term reliability.
Commercial
Investing in solar energy will minimize your utility costs while maintaining a sustainable commercial business. Commercial buildings with available roof space will find that using it for a solar array allows for a very quick ROI. Older buildings and insulated roofs have unique challenges, which is why we design mounting systems specific to your building’s needs. When no roof is available, solar carports have the benefit of shaded parking while still being eligible for the Federal Solar Investment Tax Credit. When all tax credits and depreciation is accounted for, a typical commercial solar array will have a payback period of 3-4 years.
Government
Government agencies can reduce their carbon footprint with fiscally responsible clean energy. Reinvest in the local community by choosing a Fresno based company. Financing programs and Power Purchase Agreements are available from third parties, that allow low initial installation cost.
