History

Petro Star Inc. was formed in 1984 to fill a unique role in Alaskas petroleum market. While other Alaska refineries were processing a wide variety of petroleum products, Petro Stars founders recognized the need for a refinery that would process only mid-end distillates such as heating oil, diesel and aviation fuels for homes and businesses in Alaska.

We serve residential, military, marine, aviation and industrial customers - many of whom live and work in remote areas where temperatures plunge to dangerous levels and access to top quality fuel is critical.

Today, with over 30 years of experience serving Alaskas unique fuel needs, Petro Star has evolved into a successful team of integrated companies. We are the only Alaska-owned refining and fuel marketing operation in the state.  Petro Star is a wholly owned subsidiary of Arctic Slope Regional Corporation. ASRC, along with its family of companies, is the largest Alaska-owned and operated company, employing over 10,000 people worldwide.

Lubricants

Petro Star Lubricants is a bulk lube repackaging company offering several product lines – all competitively priced and backed by a commitment to superior service.  As a bulk lube repackaging company headquartered in Anchorage, we import lubricating oils to Alaska in bulk, repackage them in our plant, then distribute the finished products to industrial customers in a variety of industries throughout Southcentral, Western, Northern and Interior Alaska.  We provide technical services for all of our product lines. In addition to offering lube oil seminars for larger customers, our specially trained staff offers individual consultations to ensure you match the right product with your specific equipment and operating conditions. Because lubricant choice becomes critical when temperatures drop well below zero, this technical assistance has proven to be a welcomed and essential service.

Heating Fuel

At Petro Star, we know consistent, dependable high-quality heating fuel is essential in Alaska, and we deliver. Our fuels have one of the lowest pour points in Alaska, allowing customers to use their fuel even if temperatures plunge below -60ºF (-51º C). Our fuels are also tested in a state-of-the-art laboratory for their cloud and pour points, gravity and flash level to ensure you will always get a product of the highest quality.We distribute locally produced heating and diesel fuel directly from our refineries in North Pole and Valdez to locations throughout Alaska. We deliver to your home, office or commercial site.

Refining

Refining is where it all started. Petro Star Inc. built its North Pole Refinery in 1985 to serve the needs of Interior Alaska – where severe arctic conditions make dependable, high-quality product imperative.The refinerys efficient operations, uncompromising quality and dedicated Alaska personnel became the foundation of the companys ongoing success. Today the company operates refineries in North Pole and Valdez, serving the needs of customers throughout the state.Our northern refinery is a 22,000-barrel-per-day facility, producing heating fuel, kerosene, diesel, jet fuels, and asphalt base oil. Residential, commercial, industrial and military customers can all count on consistent, dependable, high-quality product. We test our fuels in a state-of-the-art laboratory for their cloud and pour points, gravity and flash level. Additional tests are performed on jet fuels to ensure a safe and high-quality product.
