Backed by 20 years of data center construction experience with design-build AC/ DC electrical systems and building management control systems for critical power applications, PDE provides an edge by leveraging its experience to integrate new components like lighting control systems to existing lighting systems and motor control centers such as variable frequency drives (VFDs) for existing chillers, computer room air conditioners and central plants. Additionally, new equipment controls may require integration with proprietary platforms. PDE understands the extensive pre-planning and execution necessary to keep all electrical and mechanical systems operational while the upgrades are completed.

With the emergence of the smart grid and energy storage, PDE has taken a leadership role in integrating utility-scale energy storage and microgrid systems ranging from light commercial designs to utility-scale. PDE is technology agnostic and uses power electronics technology developed by leading companies and high power advanced battery cell technologies. Our combined expertise of energy efficiency retrofits and micro-grid project experience of PDE provides its clients benefits, including:

Light Commercial – The low voltage system targets DC applications in the 28 to 60 volt range. Applications are typically under 100kW. The systems are designed to provide multi-layered redundancy, cost avoidance and ease of upgrade. Target markets for such systems are high-use residential, small commercial facilities, remote telemetry and telecommunication backup. Systems are agnostically designed to provide for plug and play architecture and ease of technology transition.

Microgrid – Community scale energy distribution/storage systems integrated within a smart grid framework. Proprietary system design provides superior performance and flexible installation configurations. Capacity and voltage requirements have been engineered to provide flexibility and reduce risk associated with customization.

Utility Distribution – Utility-grade energy storage applications designed to provide scalable MW systems. Systems can be designed within a fully enclosed container integrating operational controls, cooling and fire suppression. The system containment architecture has been developed to minimize foot print of installation and provide a solution for space restrictions.
