Pareto Energy is a Washington, DC based company that designs, builds, owns, and operates local energy networks known as microgrids. In response to the growing diversity of consumer energy needs, Pareto’s microgrids offer its customers the flexibility of affordable, reliable, and environmentally sustainable power systems. Additionally, the use of unique financing, patented GridLink interconnection technology, and mass customization capabilities enable Pareto to easily meet the growing and varied demands of today’s energy consumer.
Pareto works closely with many regional electric utilities, enabling it to use existing grid resources for back-up power. Also, its innovative GridLink interconnection technology enables Pareto's microgrid architecture to integrate cleaner, on-site engines or turbines with renewable energy resources such as fuel cells, waste-to-energy or building-integrated solar and wind. Since the company designs sophisticated, customized microgrid systems, it is agnostic with respect to generation form or hardware.
Pareto Energy has near term commitments of $70 million for GridLink-enabled microgrids within the next year in NYC, DC, Connecticut and Maryland. Pareto bases its revenue model on fees for consulting and placing project financing, renewable energy tax credits, grants and energy sales revenues from owning microgrids. Pareto has a 3 year development program of approximately 400 MW with an aggregate project capital requirement of nearly $1.3 billion.
