Energy Cube

The concept of Energy Cube is straight forward; a complete, self-contained power system in a single module that can be delivered, positioned, connected and is ready to go.

What makes Energy Cube different is in the way it integrates a number of energy sources to achieve the most efficient operation possible in terms of emissions, fuel consumption and running costs

Simple installation

Choosing Energy Cube means you don’t need to construct or adapt a dedicated building or space to accommodate your power system. Neither do you need to provide for bunded fuel storage. Also, as the system comes pre-tested and ready to go, there is little to do in installation terms other than connecting to your power network. So you don’t have the cost of an expensive technician on-site with considerable savings to be made, therefore, in terms of cost and time.

Low emissions, low running costs

As a hybrid power system, Energy Cube is able to make use of energy generated by both renewable and conventional means. A diesel generator is used as a power source when the integral battery bank requires charging or energy demand is at a high level. Under these conditions, the generator is called up automatically. When power demand is modest, the inverters deliver power that has been stored in the batteries. Energy that is generated by optional renewable resources (wind and solar power) is used to support the loads and, where there is excess, to keep the batteries charged up. When conditions are good, demand for the generator can be substantially reduced with the obvious benefits in terms of fuel consumption and running hours.

Efficient use of energy

What makes the Energy Cube concept really clever is how the battery is used as an electrical flywheel. When power demand is low, which is in fact for the majority of the time, power stored in the battery is converted into mains energy by the inverters. During periods of sustained higher power demand, when cooking sunday lunch for example, the generator will run. Switching between the two sources is seamless so you don’t know that it’s happened. When power demand is at a maximum the inverters and the generator work together through a feature called ‘Power Assist’. This way the generator does not have to be sized to cover the maximum load and energy is borrowed from the battery to make up
any shortfall.

Putting all this together means generator running time is kept to a minimum keeping fuel consumption, emissions and service needs to absolute minimum; it also means noise is restricted to the shortest possible periods.

Sophisticated control and monitoring

The whole system is managed and controlled through a sophisticated monitoring network that displays information on battery condition, system performance and fuel tank levels on an LCD panel. The panel can also be repeated in a main building.

Flexible and adaptable

Energy Cube comes in a number of standard configurations to suit modest, average and higher power demands. There are a number of optional features that can be added to the standard system that include wind or solar PV input, remote web-based monitoring and control, high-grade sound attenuation as well as the possibility of accommodating individual requirements.
