OBrien Energy Company, is a highly successful, fourth generation E&P company that has assembled and manages, through OBENCO IV, a balanced portfolio of  upstream & midstream assets in the Mid Continent & Gulf Coast regions.  ​  OBrien Energy Company is the Managing Member of the General Partner of OBENCO IV, a Delaware limited partnership that seeks to provide an institutional quality, direct low cost platform for participating in the E&P, midstream and minerals buisness. 

A LEGACY OF SUCCESS SINCE THE 1930S

Through four generations over the course of more than 80 years, the OBrien family name has been tied to successful and profitable oil and gas exploration in Gulf Coast and Mid-Continent regions. William OBrien and his brothers laid the foundation for success when they moved to Shreveport, Louisiana, in the 1930s and partnered with B.B Jones to form Jones-OBrien, Inc, an exploration and production company that quickly established a foothold and an enviable reputation for success in the prolific East Texas oilfield. Since then, the OBrien family has generated several major discoveries including South Lake Arthur Field, which came during William J. OBrien, Jr.s tenure. South Lake Arthur Field was the largest onshore natural gas discovery in Louisiana in the 1980s.

THE OBENCO ERA

In 1997, William "Bill" J. OBrien III and Dr. Patrick W. Peavy began OBrien Energy Company, as operator, and raised capital through a series of successful investment vehicles to invest, alongside their personal capital, in oil and gas acquisitions and exploration.    ​  Since 1999, OBrien has generated superior returns for its investors in up and down markets. Now, on its fifth investment vehicle in 17 years, OBrien continues to excel, despite market conditions, with a focus on East Texas horizontal oil development.

CONTINUING THE LEGACY

January 2010 marked the inception of OBENCO III and William J. OBrien IV joining the team. A new era began for OBrien with a focus on horizontal oil development to balance out the existing gas producing assets. William immediately began building the appropriate team and portfolio to grow a balanced company.      By recruiting a very talented technical staff originating from Devon, Noble, Exxon, Chesapeake and Nexen, and generating top tier development assets, top-tier IV has become one of the fastest growing crude oil producers in the region.

Through a "generate & exploit" strategy OBENCO IV strives to grow proved reserves and cash flow through organic development and bolt-on acquisitions, in existing core regions, while operating within cash flow and borrowing base.
