M. W. Sewall is a 4th generation family business serving Maine’s midcoast communities since 1887.  We are locally owned and have been operating a home heating oil and propane delivery company providing full service and installations for your heating and cooling needs.  We are located at 259 Front Street in Bath.  We are a full service energy company that serves our customers’ needs 24 hours a day/365 days a year.   We offer a variety of petroleum products to serve the needs of both our residential and commercial accounts.  Our products include Home Heating Oil, Kerosene, Propane, ULSD Clear On Road Diesel, ULSD Dyed Off Road Diesel, Gasoline.  In 2006 we built a state of the art bulk plant on the New Meadows Road in West Bath.  We have a combined storage of 250,000  gallons to meet your needs and keep you warm throughout Maine’s coldest winters!   You can rest assured that when inventories get tight we will have the product for you when you need it!  We have our own in house service department that is available 24 hours a day/365 days a year so you can be comfortable knowing that we will be there (and not some subcontractor) when you need us. We offer service plans and installations for your service needs.  We offer many alternative products to help you become more efficient with your energy needs.

Throughout the 1800s the Sewall Family operated one of five major ship building yards along the Kennebec River.  Noteworthy amongst its’ production, the square masted schooner, the Edward Sewall,  delivered kerosene throughout the Caribbean for Texaco, eventually leading the family into the heating business.  Throughout the years three generations of Edward Sewalls have led the growth of M. W. Sewall.  In early 1900 Mark W. Sewall moved the Company headquarters from upper Front Street to their present location to make room for the construction of City Hall.  Building on their maritime history and the relationship with Texaco, M. W. Sewall operated a coal wharf on the Kennebec River, receiving product by ship and then delivering to local residents under the guidance of Ed Sewall.  In the mid 1900s, Edward Jr. joined his father at the company and M. W. Sewall became a consignee agent for Texaco.  Texaco dismantled a fuel storage facility in the greater Boston area, shipped it to Bath, Maine and leased it to the Sewalls for one cent per gallon.  In 1992, Ned (Edward III) Sewall became President and led the Company through an accelerated growth period that included the rebuilding of the current office at 259 Front Street, keeping with the historical design of downtown Bath, and construction of an environmentally safe, state of the art, fuel and propane bulk storage facility in West Bath, Maine.  Service has always been our number one product and we are dedicated to delivering that promise to our customers.  We proudly serve midcoast area from Falmouth to Waldoboro.  Our staff has over 200 years of industry experience and prides itself on providing excellent service on a personal level to all customers!

  If you smell propane in the house , leave the house, shut off the tank and call the service dept immediately for us to check the system. We have 24/7 service for propane. All after hours emergency calls involving items or services not covered by contract will be charged at one and a half times prevailing hourly rate.

M.W. Sewall delivers Kerosene from Yarmouth to Waldoboro. We also cover the areas from Topsham to Lisbon Falls.

We realize the importance of being able to get kerosene for your monitor heater and/or your outside tank so we store it in both of our bulk plants.  To insure its integrity the truck that delivers kerosene on your designated delivery day only carries that product.  We offer several Heating Oil Programs for your convenience. We offer a 10 cent a gallon discount if you pay for your delivery within 10 days so you do not need to wait at home for us to deliver.  We also offer a 2 cent senior citizen discount.

Propane, unlike oil, can be used in several applications and is becoming very popular in Maine.  Many new homes that are being built are choosing propane due to it being a clean burning, multi use product.  It is economical and allows the home owner the flexibility of not putting an oil tank in their basement.    With one tank you can service your needs for heat, hot water, cooking, space heating, clothes drying, fireplaces and grill use.  If installing a generator or pool heater you would be best suited to put in a separate tank.  Some people switch over gradually based on replacing appliances as need be.  A small tank can be set at no cost to the customer and then changed out for a larger one as appliances are added!  As older oil furnaces and boilers become outdated,  the oil tank is getting older and may need replacing – many people are switching to propane furnaces and boilers to avoid the cost of a new oil tank.  Tired of replacing that electric hot water heater?  Try a new Tankless On Demand Hot Water Heater.  They start at providing 5 gallons of hot water per minute to up to 9.8 gallons a minute depending on your needs and the model -that translates to a full standard 40 Gallon Electric Hot Water Heater.
