Kraken Oil & Gas is a private equity-backed exploration and production company formed in 2012 to focus on drilling and development opportunities in the Williston Basin of Montana and North Dakota, primarily in the prolific Bakken formation. We will be updating our newsfeed to keep you up to date about our most recent activities.
The Kraken (kra:ken)
The Kraken is a legendary sea creature of giant proportions thought to dwell in the deepest parts of the oceans. Its figure resembles that of a squid or octopus, and although a specimen has never been seen or captured, the legend continues to the present day. At Kraken Oil and Gas, we are intent on the accurate identification and successful, safe, and efficient development of the largest accumulations of oil and gas in the United States. The U.S. Geological Survey estimates that up to 7.4 billion barrels of oil will ultimately be recovered from the Bakken. In its April 2008 study, the Bakken was classified as the largest continuous oil accumulation ever assessed in the contiguous United States. Kraken is proud to be part of this world class development, and excited by the potential it holds.
THE PRINCIPALS AT KRAKEN OIL & GAS HAVE EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE IN THE BAKKEN.
Kraken Oil & Gas is dedicated to operations in the Williston Basin of Montana and North Dakota. Since inception in 2012, Kraken has drilled multiple wells and currently operates more than 80 wells in Richland and Roosevelt County, Montana as well as Williams County, North Dakota. We have accumulated nearly 90,000 net leasehold acres with over 10 years of drilling inventory. Kraken management has been involved in the Bakken play since its inception, studying, drilling and operating wells in nearly every part of the Williston Basin, and as such has a wealth of experience with the development of unconventional reservoirs, like the Bakken. This experience, in combination with the hard work, diligence and dedication of its employees, contractors and service partners provide Kraken its primary competitive advantage.
STRATEGY
KRAKEN BELIEVES IN THE POTENTIAL OF THE BAKKEN. WHILE THE RECENT DECLINE IN OIL AND GAS COMMODITY PRICES HAS IMPACTED ACTIVITY, IT HAS ALSO CREATED OPPORTUNITIES. KRAKEN IS COMMITTED TO THE WILLISTON BASIN AND HAS SEIZED THE OPPORTUNITY BY EXPANDING ITS ASSET BASE IN MONTANA AND NORTH DAKOTA. KRAKEN WILL UTILIZE ITS VAST EXPERIENCE, TECHNICAL ACUMEN, AND WILLISTON BASIN SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE TO FURTHER UNLOCK THE BAKKEN. KRAKEN PRIDES ITSELF ON TECHNICAL AND OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE, HARD WORK AND INNOVATION. THROUGH TOP TIER PLANNING AND EXECUTION, WE WILL MAKE THE BAKKEN GREAT AGAIN.
