Began in August of 1979 with eight employees and a 5,000 square-foot rented space on Lexington Boulevard in Corpus Christi, TX. Since many of Kennedy Wire Rope’s first employees came from E.L. Bearden Company, our team already possessed much of the knowledge and skill required to serve the quickly growing demands of the industrial and oil & gas markets who needed our rigging supplies and hardware.

By 1981, Kennedy Wire Rope had outgrown the small space and purchased a 24,000 square-foot building on five acres on Flato Road (present location). The size of our team and the demands of the wire rope and sling industry had increased drastically over this time period, and the larger location allowed for much-needed equipment upgrades and space to house our growing rigging supplies, hardware, and fall protection equipment. Kennedy Wire Rope was now able to handle larger jobs that needed our rigging supplies, hardware, and fall protection equipment and began an in-house product testing service. Additionally, another spooling truck was added, which allowed for on-site service work and inspection services.

By 1997, as the market for our amazing wire rope fittings, fall protection equipment, and self-retracting lifeline demand continued to grow, plans were made to purchase the adjoining five-acre lot. A second 24,000 square foot building was erected, allowing for expansion of the product testing, synthetic sling fabrication, and chain sling fabrication departments.

In February 1998, a second location was opened in San Antonio to better serve customers in the central Texas area. The San Antonio store created new positions and market expansion and allowed us to better offer rigging supplies and hardware to our growing customer base.

In 2008, the increasing demand for rigging products and related services in central Texas required us to relocate to a larger 25,000 square foot location between I10 and Hwy 35 just off of WW White Rd. This allowed for upgrades to our rigging production equipment and spooling truck with plenty of room for addition of stock and our wire rope inspection services.
