About Company

Kelly’s Propane came into being in 1994 when a gentleman by the name of Kelly Kyler added propane to his then livestock feed business, Kelly’s Feed & Supply. Within a short period of time, the propane side of the business grew to such an extent that the feed business was sold, and the growing propane business became his number one endeavor.  Good customer service was first on the list of things Kelly wanted to instill in his business and employees, along with a positive work attitude and a desire to give the customer a positive experience in their dealings with Kelly’s Propane.  Since his death in September 2000, his business has continued to thrive due to his work ethic and foresight in creating a strong business foundation. He started with a 1980’s era International Bobtail, and a service truck and the rest is history.  Since then, the original trucks have come and gone, and are now replaced with newer models that are more efficient and economical to operate, service trucks have bigger and better cranes, new ideas have come into play, better ways of doing things, and what once was a one-man operation has grown into a business capable of supporting a number of employees with various duties.

Pre-Buy

Historically, Pre-Buy is the most ideal option for your winter fuel needs. Pre-Buy is offered only in the Summer, typically the month of June. When our Pre-Buy prices are available, you will let us know how many gallons you would like to purchase. For example, if you buy 1000 gallons and the price is $1.00 per gallon, you will pay $1000.00 plus sales tax; this is for your winter fuel needs ONLY. When you Pre-Buy, you are protecting yourself from the spikes in the market, but not the lows. Prices will vary from year to year, so the best thing to do is call our office at 419-526-4271 for complete information and pricing.

Budget

To avoid having to pay for a delivery in full when it is made, you may take advantage of our budget program. To figure a monthly budget, we use your previous years’ usage. If you are a new customer, you will need to provide us with your usage. Budget payments are due the 10th of the month, beginning in June. Typically, most budget accounts are 9 to 11 months. Any balance left at the end of the season must be paid in full before you can start the next years budget. Every account is monitored throughout the season. Your budget may be adjusted due to prices or usage. We will notify you by US Mail, e-mail or phone, of any changes that need to be made.

Credit

Terms or Pay in Advance  Should you choose not to take advantage of either program described above, you will pay for your deliveries according to the terms that we have extended to you. If we have extended 30-day terms to you, you will have 30-days from the day of delivery to have that bill paid in full. If your account is on a “Pay in Advance” basis, you must watch the gauge, call us when it is between 20%-30%, and we will give you a dollar amount that must be paid in full before a delivery will be scheduled. If your account is on a “Will Call” basis, as the customer, you are solely responsible for checking the gauge on the tank to avoid an out-of-gas situation. Any out-of-gas calls REQUIRE a System Check due to federal regulations and applicable fees will apply.

For above Ground Tank Replacement

For most residential and some commercial applications, a tank size from 320 gal to 500 gal would be used. Tanks in this size range must be a minimum of 10 ft away from any permanent structure, 10 ft away from any ignition source (power meters, transformers, pool heaters, etc.), 10 ft from property lines, 25 ft from fire pits or other open flames, 25 ft from other fuel tanks (gasoline, diesel, heating oil, etc.), and can not be placed near septic systems, or under overhead power lines.

For Gas Inlet Placement

In most applications, two LP gas regulators are required. One is on the tank, and the other attaches directly to the gas inlet (commonly referred to as a stub). This gas inlet should not be within 3 ft of an above-ground window, or 5 ft of a window below the stub. We also ask that the stub is not more than 48 inches above the ground, and no less than 18 inches above ground. It also needs to be away from power meters, air conditioning units, appliance air intakes, and other sources of ignition. If placement to these guidelines is not possible, there are other alternatives, such as running a vent tube off of the regulator. However, this is not a preferred method. Please let us know before your set date, if these requirements can not be met.

Additional Information

A 500 gal propane tank weighs almost 1000 pounds empty. The Service Tech will need to be able to drive a crane truck close to where you want the tank. We can not cross septic systems, or shallow tile pipe due to the weight of this vehicle. Doing so can cause severe damage to your septic and/or drainage systems. This vehicle needs an area that is unobstructed to at least 10 feet high and wide, without excessively steep grades to safely maneuver into the tank setting position.  The service tech will also need to cut a trench about 4 inches wide, and 12 to 18 inches deep from the tank location, to the gas inlet on the structure. All underground utility lines, and drainage tiles that could be damaged by the trenching machine should be marked. These lines can be marked by your utility company, or by contacting OUPS (Ohio Utilities Protection Service) At 1-800-362-2764. You can also go to their web site by clicking here. If you’re not sure where would be the best place to set your tank, just give us a call.
