Horry Electric Cooperative, Inc. was organized on April 24, 1940, with 627 charter members.   Our system was energized on January 7, 1941.  As a not for profit, member-owned corporation, Horry Electric is dedicated to providing information and energy-related services on a fair and equitable basis.  A nine-member board of trustees, elected from and by their fellow members at the Cooperative Annual Meeting, governs the activities of the Cooperative. The board names the chief executive officer who, in turn, is responsible for appointing the management staff that operates and maintains the system.

Solar Energy – MySCSolar

As interest in renewable energy has grown, more and more cooperative members have considered solar energy.  New technology, falling prices and financial incentives mean solar energy is more accessible for South Carolina homeowners and businesses.  Horry Electric supports a balanced mix of resources for generating power, including solar.As your trusted energy partner, we have worked with the rest of South Carolina’s independent, consumer-owned and not-for-profit electric cooperatives to develop MySCSolar.  It was created to help members make informed decisions about investing in solar power, proper installation and safety.
