Hackettstown Oil Corporation is owned and operated by Chris and Nick Colson. The Colson Family has been in the oil business for over 25 years. In the mid 80s their parents, Randy and Jacquie, started Colson Oil Company. Chris and Nick grew up very involved with Colson Oil Company. They spent much of their free time, during weekends and summers, assisting with all aspects of the family business.  In 1997, Chris graduated Pope John High School, in Sparta NJ. After studying briefly at the University of Rhode Island he ventured into the trucking business. He owned and operated Christopher Colson Trucking for the next 10 years. During those 10 years, Chris also performed oil tank removal and installation, contaminated site remediation, oil burner service, and heavy equipment operation & mobilization. In 2005, Nick also graduated Pope John High School, and proceeded to study at Muhlenberg College. Nick graduated in 2009, with a degree in Business Management, and a double concentration in Marketing and Management Science.  In 2010 Chris and Nick purchased the Warren County division of Starz Oil, Randy Colsons current business in Netcong, forming what is now Hackettstown Oil Corporation. In 2011, Hackettstown Oil expanded their quickly growing business to include the sale of Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel Fuel, for both on-road and off-road equipment. All of Hackettstown Oil premium heating oil and diesel is purchased directly from pipe line suppliers.  As of fall 2012, Hackettstown Oil had tripled in volume in two short years. It was time for the next level of expansion. In March 2013, Hackettstown Oil Corp proudly launched an E-Commerce division of sales, at HackettstownOil.net. Through online sales Hackettstown Oil is now capable of offering unbeatable pricing, while keeping consistent with the prompt and reliable delivery of premium oil.  In December of 2013, after 8 months of spec and production, Hackettstown Oil introduced their 2014 Peterbilt tri-axle to the fleet.  A truck with an unique capacity of 6500 gallons, more than twice the size of the industry standard 2800 gallon trucks.  This was another of Hackettstown Oil cost reducing twists allowing for more deliveries and less load time, ultimately bringing the cost to the consumer down.  Although this truck cannot be used in driveways, Hackettstown Oil has no problem routing a full days work to homes, that this truck can deliver to from the Street.

During March of 2014 Hackettstown Oil began offering oil delivery to some new territories in Sussex County.  These towns include Andover, Byram, Fredon, Frelinghuysen, Green, Hampton Township, Johnsonburg, Lafayette, Newton, Ogdensburg, Sparta, Stanhope, Stillwater and Tranquility.  Additionally, as of April 1st 2014, Hackettstown Oil purchased the existing accounts for the majority of these new areas previously handled by Starz Oil.  September of 2014 Hackettstown Oil moved into their newly renovated 6,000 sq. ft. facility located at 130 US Highway 46, Hackettstown, NJ 07840.  This facility was completed just in time to accommodate 3 new trucks completed in December 2014.  Hackettstown Oils now 7 trucks was just enough to manage the very cold and relentless Winter Season of 2014/2015.  March of 2015, brought yet another chapter of exciting expansion and growth.  Hackettstown Oil proudly began service to Denville, Dover, Mine Hill, Randolph, Rockaway and Wharton.  In just the 1st few weeks of servicing these new areas, it was clear that the 2015 expansion into more of Morris County was headed for the same explosive growth as 2014 in Sussex County.  This anticipation and Hackettstown Oils determination to continue to maintain their supply to meet customers demands, led to putting 3 more new delivery trucks into production to be completed in early December 2015.  During the 2016 & 2017 with a fleet of 11 trucks Hackettstown Oil continued to expand their territories further into Sussex County.  Towns including Lafayette, Franklin, Hamburg, Vernon & Sussex/Wantage began to utilize the savings and premium oil that Hackettstown Oil reliably delivers.     May of 2018 brought on the acquisition of Starz Oils automatic accounts, and Hackettstown Oil began offering service to Lake Hopatcong, Roxbury and all the surrounding areas. At this time Hackettstown Oil now officially served all of Sussex, Morris and Warren Counties.  With most of Hunterdon County included too, Hackettstown Oil Corporation had grown to become New Jerseys largest & most reliable discount premium heating oil supplier, operating with a fleet of 15 late model delivery trucks!   Chris and Nick would like to take this opportunity to thank all existing customers for their patronage, making such rapid expansion possible.  Hackettstown Oil looks forward to providing decades of quality service and premium oil at discount prices.  Please feel free to contact us anytime, via phone or email, with any feedback to help us serve you.
