30 years ago, our founder’s passion for building and business began. His heroes were his grandpas – both Veterans and humble do-it-yourself geniuses. So, summers were full of home building, woodworking, gardening, fishing and outdoors adventure. His other heroes are his parents – both entrepreneurs, medical and legal specialists. Graduate school helped Robinson return to those roots by founding our parent company Momentum Bay focused on sustainable real estate and management consulting. Since 2007, we’ve seen too many fellow visionary executives and leaders overpay for goods and services from other green service and product providers. For example, we witnessed elected leaders of a trade association for Texas electricity professionals brag about charging exorbitant broker fees. So, when clients asked us to fill the marketplace gap by becoming words with actions, plans with implementation, and consulting with contracting, GREEN POWER 4 TEXAS became the sophisticated braun behind Momentum Bay’s brains: LEED Accredited Professional. Registered Texas Electricity Aggregator. Certified Energy Manager. Apprentice Electrician. Registered Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Technician. Plumber’s Apprentice. More to come.
We were shocked to find that neither licensure nor continuing education is required in Texas for general contractors, roofing contractors, electricity brokers, and many other trades. Unlike doctors, lawyers, CPAs and other professionals, MBAs don’t have to keep current their graduate degrees in business. After Houston’s leading solar installer went bankrupt during a K-12 school project, an electrical contractor hired our firm as the solar panel and wind turbine distributor. GREEN POWER 4 TEXAS discovered how to boost generation up to 600% over that company’s and the engineering firm’s design. And, we saw labor-only bids from Texas utility-approved solar installers range from $16,000 to $28,000 to $38,000 without a site visit, while 3 installers declined to bid, and 72 Texas solar panel installers never replied.
Less talk, more do.
Like the A-Team from the 1980s sitcom, we love it when a plan comes together.
We exist to help executives and households simplify the seemingly complex energy-water-food nexus profitably and practically.
We enjoy learning, proving, doing and teaching.
We debunk popular myths: healthy, efficient buildings and businesses can cost less.
