Genesis Biofuel engineers, builds and sells turnkey algal biodiesel refineries to cement companies. These refineries maximize the sequestration of CO2, offering a highly efficient method of pollution control that makes money for our customers. Our primary mission is to eliminate carbon taxes and create carbon tax credits for our customers who are potentially subject to hundreds of millions in carbon penalties annually. These refineries take CO2 directly from the flue. Combined with sunlight, the CO2 is used to grow algae in a highly controlled environment. The refinery has two end products: biomass and biodiesel. The biomass reduces our customers’ intake of coal and the biodiesel fuels their entire trucking and heavy equipment fleet. In addition to eliminating carbon penalties, the sale of surplus biodiesel on the open market gives our customers a recurring income stream.
Current wisdom dictates if we want to combat global warming, we must slash carbon output. At Genesis Biofuel, we provide a solution to counter greenhouse gas emissions. We build refineries that sequester carbon dioxide and use it to produce renewable energy products. Our carbon sequestration solution is based on algae, the oldest life form on the planet, a plant that reproduces quickly, grows everywhere, and requires CO2 to grow and thrive. In our carbon negative refineries we grow, harvest and process algae to make biomass and biodiesel, outputs that cement companies can use to reduce their coal intake and to fuel their trucking and heavy equipment fleets. Cement companies are the second largest emitters of CO2 in the world, after coal burning power plants. Yet they emit 1/12th the CO2 of a power plant* which makes building a refinery for an average cement plant a realistic endeavor, not a big science project.
Our refineries use algae for six reasons:
It is the fastest growing organism on earth, reproducing in nature at a rate of 100% its mass in a single day. In a controlled environment we can accelerate that growth by 350% or more;
Unlike seasonal crops, algae can be grown year round;
It is consistent in quality compared to other feed crops that vary year to year;
Algae does not require agricultural land and does not compete with food crops for this resource;
It grows in all climates, from the arctic to the equator, so we are likely to have local sources of algae for all refineries; and
There are over 350 thousand known strains of algae on the planet so we can select a strain to meet our customer’s specific needs.
