Fortress Energy Group is a privately owned company that manages the Triolith Energy Fund LP, for the behalf of its investors. The Company was formed in 2015 by power industry veterans and is based in Tampa, FL.  ​  We specialize in wholesale electricity transactions in the organized markets of the US. Our objectives are to provide attractive investor returns, adhere to conservative risk practices, and promote competition in wholesale power markets. Electricity Markets

In 1996, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission issued Order 888, which prompted the creation of regional entities for coordinating the transmission and trading of electricity. Today, about 67% of the US power supply is managed by these regional entities. The organized markets benefit from real-time matching of generation to load, elimination of pancaked rates, efficient transmission of electricity across long distances, and operation of wholesale electricity markets. The benefits of the organized markets include efficient plant dispatch, nondiscriminatory market access, and enhanced penetration of renewable energy.     The portions of the US grid not managed by regional entities are primarily in the Southeast, Southwest and Northwest. In these areas, utilities operate in a conventional manner and are typically vertically integrated businesses. They manage their own generation and transmission systems to serve their customers. Electricity trading occurs through bilateral transactions by telephone or online.    Fortress Energy Group is authorized to participate in most of the organized markets of the US. We use fundamental and quantitative analysis to identify inefficiencies and trading opportunities. These opportunities result in beneficial investments that improve the operation of the grid.
