Whether you are looking to lower or eliminate your electric bills, provide power to a remote location, or just want to have power when the utility is down, we can help!
Grid-Tied Solar
The most common installation method. By selling power back to the grid when the system is generating more than the house or business is using, the customer is only billed for the "net" usage, also commonly referred to as "Net Metering". This is the most common method of solar installation and typically the lowest cost, but does not offer battery backup or off-grid operational capability.
Low-pitch metal roofs are often the most ideal location to mount solar panels. This can help reduce the cost of mounting and thus the overall cost of the system. To the left, a commercial 25kW system is having rows of panels mounted. In this system, inverters which convert the DC power from the panels into AC power usable by the business, are located under the panels and are known as "micro" inverters. Micro inverters offer the greatest safety and highest production yields of all major types of inverters. The typical warranty for a microinverter is 25 years!
When there is available space, solar panels are also commonly mounted on the ground when an ideal roof location does not exist, or when very large systems are being installed. Ground arrays produce slightly more power as the solar installer can orient the panels in the most ideal location and direction. Panels also tend to operate at lower temperatures, increasing production.
Off-Grid Solar
Off-Grid solar is an ideal power source for remote locations, or where running electrical may be difficult. These systems include additional equipment such as battery storage, charge controllers, and low frequency inverters.
System design is critical for off-grid!
In addition to properly evaluating solutions for complex special loads such as well pumps, compressors, circulation pumps, etc., there are many critical aspects of solar system design that must be accounted for to ensure a safe, reliable, and cost effective system. Simple home modifications such as utilizing LED lighting can often significantly reduce the size of the solar system required without sacrificing comfort. Note that normally off-grid solar homes will utilize gas for all heating purposes, it is not cost effective to utilize PV type solar for heating.
