At Fernbrook Bio we are doing our bit to mitigate the risk of climate change, and to keep down the costs of waste management to local authorities and businesses.
We do that by taking in food waste and turning it into renewable heat & electricity using anaerobic digestion (“AD”). The heat is used on-site in the process. The renewable electricity is injected into the National Grid to supply local homes in a sustainable way. Fernbrook Bio produces enough electricity to power about 3,300 homes.
We also produce a bio-fertiliser (“digestate”) which is applied to local farmland. This provides essential organic nutrients to crops, and saves farmers money by replacing more costly chemical fertilisers.
