English Boiler and Tube, Inc., recognized as a leading industrial watertube boiler manufacturer, is located in Henrico, Virginia. English Boiler & Tube, Inc. originated in 1963, primarily as a Mechanical Contractor specializing in Field Assembly and repair of Industrial Watertube Boilers. However, as the company grew in size, it began to design and fabricate components for other boiler manufacturers, eventually leading to the design and fabrication of their first boiler under the English name in 1987.
The manufacturing facility and the corporate offices are located at Eastport Industrial Complex at RIC, adjacent to Richmond International Airport. Two major interstates intersect adjacent to the manufacturing facility, Interstate 95 and Interstate 64. In addition, the Richmond Deepwater Terminal, which provides access to all major international ports, services the manufacturing facility. CSX Railroad runs parallel to the manufacturing facility with a rail spur located between the main line and the facility, including a rail spur directly into the facility. The strategic location of English Boiler’s manufacturing facility allows English Boiler to efficiently manufacture Industrial Watertube Boilers, as well as boiler room related components, and to ship the boilers and other components to locations throughout the world.
English Boiler uses the latest technology, and design programs in the design of their boilers including Computational Fluid Dynamics to analyze the flow of water and steam water mixture throughout the boiler. A staff of engineers and drafting personnel design the boilers with the use of AutoCAD and Pro Engineer drafting and modeling software. These techniques provide the engineers, drafting and shop personnel the tools to fabricate, and assemble Quality into each boiler. English boilers are installed in industrial, commercial and institutional markets throughout the world.
English Boiler is a full ASME Code fabrication facility and welcomes inspections at its Richmond, Virginia, manufacturing plant. ASME/National Board Registration Stamps Held: "S", "R". Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company serves as the Authorized Inspection Agency.
English Boiler guarantees performance, capacity and efficiency for all of its boilers.
English Boiler is a very price competitive vendor. Key factors in providing competitive pricing are:
English Boiler & Tube, Inc. represents the result of a lifelong commitment to excellence. The boiler service and erection company Mr. Sam English founded in 1963 has grown to become one of the leading boiler manufacturers in the United States.
Sam English began his lifelong career in the boiler business in 1938 as a boilermaker in the shipyards in Norfolk. In 1963, he founded his own construction company, specializing in the field erection, alteration, and repair of boilers and pressure vessels. His sons, John and Rick, introduced to the business in their early teens, worked side by side with their father and the construction crews on work sites throughout the United States. John graduated from Virginia Tech in 1969 with a degree in Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering; and Rick graduated from Hampton Sidney College in 1978 with a degree in Managerial Economics.
In the mid 1970’s, the construction company was heavily involved in the retrofitting of existing boilers with systems to combust fuels other than natural gas or oil. This required redesigning boiler tube configurations of existing boilers to better suit the new fuels used for combustion. Unable to procure the required material from the original equipment manufacturers, the construction company elected to purchase the required equipment and tooling to fabricate the needed parts.
Eventually, original equipment manufacturers solicited business from the company to fabricate parts for their boilers. E.Keeler Company, a boiler manufacturer that was located in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, provided the incentive for the construction company to expand its business. In 1987, the English family produced the first original English boiler for a company that manufactured wooden pallets.
In 1991, Rick and John combined their skills, experience, and work ethic, founding English Boiler & Tube, Inc. to design and fabricate package watertube boilers under the English name. Rick oversees production, fabrication, purchasing and quality control. John coordinates engineering, design and sales. Both know boilers from the inside out, having gained hands- on experience beginning in their early teen years working with their father.
English Boiler’s reputation for innovation has solidified its position as an industry leader in the design and fabrication of watertube boilers. English Boiler & Tube, Inc. has a distinguished history of service to the boiler industry. Clients come from a wide range of industries including Chemicals/Petrochemicals, Consumer Products, Electric Power Generation, Hospitals and Pharmaceuticals, State and Federal Government, Textiles, Equipment Manufacturers, Building Products, Colleges and Universities, Mining, and Wood and Forest Products.
BIOMASS SYSTEMS
For over 46 years, English Boiler has constructed complete renewable energy systems using biomass as a fuel source. It is English Boiler’s philosophy that in order for the United States to reduce its dependency on foreign oil, it must take advantage of its many renewable, natural and manmade resources. These resources include Biomass and waste streams from factories, homes, universities and state and federal government that were once routed to landfills, but now can provide the fuel to create the energy to produce combined heat and power for our country.
Natural gas and fuel oil normally used to create the energy for heat and power can be replaced by combusting these renewable fuel sources. These sources include lumber waste, agricultural waste, and factory by products and refuse. Biomass and waste fuel streams can be combusted efficiently, and comply with strick environmental and emission regulations.
To better control quality, cost of fabrication, and assembly, English Boiler designs and manufactures the components required for these systems using a modular concept for almost every part of the system. Modular Biomass Systems provide a lower capital cost option compared to custom designed field erected systems.
