Founded in 1954 and based out of Fair Haven, MI, Malcolm L. Chartier opened the doors to M.L. Chartier, Inc. with the principle that still drives the company today—to provide turnkey operations at a fair price while maintaining superior quality and safety. This family owned and operated company has continued to provide unmatched services to a variety of industries for over 50 years. Our earliest projects included the construction of roadways, culverts, and sewer systems.

In the late 1950’s, we began working in the oil fields for Panhandle Eastern, Sun Oil, Michigan Consolidated Gas, and Consumers Power Company. As the utilities’ needs for new office areas and workstations grew, we expanded our scope of services to include the demolition of buildings, land clearing and building containment structures. In the 1980’s, M.L. Chartier, Inc. expanded into the environmental industry performing lagoon closures, tank removals and containment soil excavation.

Today, our client base extends to engineering firms as well as government and private companies as we continue to grow and expand as Michigan’s safest excavation and environmental company. Our new location in Webberville, MI (near Lansing) has helped us reach an entirely new client basis, giving our central and western Michigan customers more resources, and allowing M.L. Chartier’s HAZMAT Team to respond to any and all emergency situations in a prompt manner, no matter where the location.
