In 2008, Brigham Minerals’ predecessor company began buying mineral interests across its operational areas in the newly discovered Bakken shale play in North Dakota. Through these early acquisitions, Bud saw an opportunity to become the premier buyer in the emerging market of unconventional oil and gas mineral rights. It took a few years to make his vision a reality, but fast forward to 2012, and Bud founded Brigham Minerals to capitalize on this strategy.
