History

In those days, deliveries were made by hand. Five gallon buckets were brought into customers homes to fill twenty five gallon reserve drums. The fuel was used to light up stove heaters generally located in the kitchen. At the time the company was located on Franklin Street.  During the Second World War, oil was rationed, and the US government created stamps that were given to families in order to get heating oil delivered. Without these stamps there was no possibility of being delivered, the period was called the oil shortage.  Little by little, the heating systems were modernized, and after the Second World War thru the late fifties, most homes were being equipped with oil furnaces. Number 2 fuel is the same fuel still in use today, which means that at the time the heating systems were basically working the same as nowadays.

Using our state of the art  computerized degree-day system, we can determine when you will need a delivery based off of several contributing factors such as outdoor temperature, tank size, and type of equipment. Payment / Budget Info

Blue Flame offers an oil delivery budget plan that divides  your annual heating oil costs into 12 equal payments. Budget customers automatically receive a discount of 10 cents per gallon off the posted price. Each payment is due by the 10th of each month starting in June and ending in May. The payments are based on projected fuel usage and calculated to cover the cost of fuel usage only. Any non-fuel charges such as repair service charges or service contracts are billed at the prevailing rate and payable upon receipt. Payments cover only fuel delivered to the customers home address. Fuel delivered to any other location is considered a non-budget charge and payable upon receipt of invoice.  If at any time the budget payments become in arrears of two payments, it will automatically void the budget payment agreement. At the end  of the twelve month period, any balance due must be paid in full by May 31st. Credit balances are automatically figured into the next seasons’s budget, unless a refund of a credit balance is requested. If a refund is taken, the budget payment for the next season will be re-calculated.
