This alleviates pre-mature sucker rod fatigue, extends rod life, well up-time, and provides unmatched reliability in the sucker rod string.

For over 70 years, sucker rod guides have been engineered to address one problem: rod-on-tubing wear. Sucker rod buckling and bending fatigue during compressive moments of the pumping stroke used to be avoided with wide-guide spacing (double-up 8 per), creating long free gaps between sucker rod guides. This approach is counter-intuitive, as it allows the sucker rod to continuously make contact with the production tubing.

In difficult wells, some operators chose to use NO sucker rod guides, because of the increased chance of rod parts. The sucker rod is not controlled in compression with legacy sucker rod guides. Instead, more areas of bending moments are introduced with the additional sucker rod guides, increasing the likelihood of pre-mature sucker rod failure.

For compression areas of the rod string, It is critical to reinforce and centralize the sucker rod with enough frequency to increase the Critical Buckling Load beyond that of what is possible (the weight of the rod string above the compression area).
