Biodico builds, owns and operates sustainable biorefineries based upon patented and proprietary technology developed over the past 20+ years. At Biodico, our team of professionals develop renewable energy solutions that provide lasting renewable energy while addressing and complimenting efforts to rectify global energy challenges of all shapes and sizes.
MISSION STATEMENT
Biodico seeks to create renewable and green energy sources in the most environmentally and economically sustainable way possible. On the global scale, post-peak petroleum supplies continue to dwindle and global warming threatens to disrupt society. On the national and regional scale, conflicts over remaining resources cause instabilities and governments are enacting cap and trade policies to mitigate carbon emissions. Biodico believes that environmental and economic sustainability, as well as ethical responsibility, are mutually achievable with the help of renewable and alternative energy solutions. Biodico was founded on biodiesel production and biodiesel production remains Biodico’s core competency. From the inception of the company though, Biodico has sought to remain as vertically integrated as possible, maintaining close relationships with agriculturalists, developing innovative feedstock sources, and working and partnering with end users of biofuel. Through years of commercial production it became apparent that other means of renewable energy production could be integrated into the biodiesel production as well to shared advantage. Anaerobic digestion of GBX, gasification of inedible seed meal, use of solar co-generation for process heat, and on-site growth of symbiotic algae populations are all currently utilized by Biodico and the company maintains a strong commitment to continuing R&D leading to commercial use of other promising green energy technologies.
BIOFUEL PRODUCTION
TECHNOLOGYFEASIBILITY STUDIES Biodico produces ASTM grade biodiesel from a wide variety of fats and oils. Biodico has produced fuel at five commercial locations worldwide since 2000. Biodico also uses the byproducts of biodiesel production and feedstock sourcing to create other types of renewable energy. One byproduct of production, called GBX, is modified to enable the creation of methane rich biogas through anaerobic digestion. Inedible seed meal is gasified to produce a hydrogen rich syngas.
Technology
Biodico uses an internally developed FTNIR spectroscopic method to analyze for fuel contaminants and characteristics in-situ. The method determines the levels of bound and free glycerin, free fatty acids, water, and methanol as well as cloud point and oxidative stability characteristics. Biodico uses proprietary methods to boost biogas production from commercial and municipal anaerobic digesters an average of 300%.
