BFX was formed in 2008 when a team of experienced engineers decided to create a fully mobile solution to meet a niche market demand related to extracting natural gas liquids (NGLs) and plant condensates from rich associated gas from oil wells or wet gas wells in shale plays. They knew that pipeline capacity was often not sufficient for the initial production rates of today’s new wells.

In 2015, Emerging Infrastructure Capital Partners, LLC, a private equity company, took a position in the company.
