Recent challenging times have driven many companies away from the Gulf of Mexico Shelf. Yet even after more than 12 billion barrels of oil have been produced in this basin, it remains rich with opportunity for those that persevere. Today’s advanced imaging technology is especially effective here. Three-dimensional seismic data is used reliably for geological interpretations to remap and uncover missed oil accumulations in a hydrocarbon basin where oil accounts for nearly one-third of production. And high production rates provide fast returns on investment.

Most oil produced here comes from conventional fields with complicated geology, where little prospecting has occurred since oil reached $80 per barrel. That makes oil finding expertise critical for success in the shallow-water Gulf—unlike the manufacturing-type resource plays of North America’s major onshore basins.
• Our multidisciplinary team is built to exploit the less obvious and more challenging opportunities that remain in the Gulf. This approach is essential to identifying subtle oil prospects with limited seismic response.
