ARDA Power is designing a simple, resilient, low cost, efficient, versatile, expandable, and open ARDA DC Microgrid Platform for use in commercial and industrial applications, as well as in other important use cases including AC-connected Energy Storage. We also sell components of the Platform as Products for use in related industries including battery storage. Use of our products solves clearly defined problems while allowing our customers and their installations to be fully compatible with the rapidly approaching DC Microgrid future!
ARDA Power's business model was designed to ensure an ability to continue innovating, while rapidly scaling production, guaranteeing customers that they can rely on us. Our manufacturing, and some engineering activities, are performed through relationships with well established contract manufacturers. And we are developing a distribution network through OEM and strategic channel partnerships.
History
ARDA Power was founded in 2009 to commercialize core technology originally developed at the University of Toronto. During 2011 the company received the first round of financing and began developing a range of power electronics components designed with distributed generation and DC Microgrids in mind.
In early 2014 ARDA Power commissioned the first ARDA Source DC-DC Converters, which were ordered by a globally recognized engineering firm for a 2MW expansion of an existing Ontario-based solar plant. That same year ARDA developed a power electronics solution consisting of ARDA Source DC-DC Converters and Bidirectional DC-AC Inverter for a global fuel cell company.
In 2015 ARDA established relationships, including receipt of purchase orders, based around the supply of core power electronics components to leading global flow battery companies.
In late 2015 ARDA was awarded a grant by Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC) to install a first-of-its-kind DC Microgrid project in Burlington, Ontario using the ARDA DC Microgrid Platform. The company began working on the project in early 2016 and will complete installation in early 2017.
