​​Apex Energy formed a strategic partnership with affiliates of Apollo Global Management, LLC (NYSE: APO) in April, 2013. The initial objective of the partnership is to invest in oil and gas properties in the Appalachia Basin, with a primary focus on the Marcellus shale.Apex, headquartered outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has an executive management team led by Mark Rothenberg, Chief Executive Officer, and Ed Long, Chief Operating Officer. Mark and Ed's careers started as petroleum engineers with Amoco Corporation working on various projects throug​hout the United States. Over the years they have both worked on some of the most prolific unconventional natural gas and oil projects in the country. They both relocated to Pittsburgh during the initial stages of the Marcellus Shale exploration programs. ​Mark and Ed have directly managed and supervised the development (planning, permitting, construction, drilling, completion, and production) of over 100 Marcellus horizontal wells.The rest of the Apex team is made of a combination of local and relocated professionals. The local professionals have spent their entire career in the Appalachia Basin. They bring an important understanding of the local environment and valuable expertise in this rich and historic basin. Apex has also relocated professionals, bringing with them a wealth of knowledge and experience from other shale and unconventional reservoirs located throughout the United States.
