Alta Fuels could be described as any one of currently in-fashion words like synergy, collaboration, symbiosis. Any one of those powerful adjectives would be correct, but Alta Fuels is best described as a business relying on old-fashioned team work. Alta Fuels IS the sum of its several parts including both Alta Transportation and Alta Lubricants. Each business division relies on and is supported by each of the other – integrated to meet and exceed the needs of the Alta Fuels customers.  The teamwork of the Alta businesses is evident in the reliance on shared facilities. The original facility in Alamosa, Colorado is home to a state of the art plant with rail car access and loading racks for petroleum transports; in addition to a warehouse for packaged lubricants, indoor storage tanks for bulk lubricants and a modern quality assurance laboratory where testing of fuel products is conducted by Alta’s full-time chemists.  The new (built in 2013) Alta Fuels facility in Pueblo West, CO houses a fuels terminal, loading rack, bulk lubricants, coolants and packaged lubricants warehouse and a test lab.  Both Alta Fuels plants feature maintenance garages with full-time mechanics on staff to service the 30 Alta Transportation 8,500 gallon tractor-transports and the five 4,500 gallon Alta bobtail delivery trucks.

Alta Lubricants

Fuels & Winter Diesel Additives 

At each of our loading facilities, Alamosa and Pueblo West, we have state-of-the-art bottom loading metered products that is comparable to a facility that you would see at some of the “major” loading racks. We offer renewable fuels such as E85 and biodiesel as well as conventional gasoline and diesel fuel.In the winter months, we can blend our diesel fuels to meet any customer requirement based on the location’s cold temperature needs. We also have an additive injection system at the loading rack – taking the guess work out of winter additive - helping to ensure winter operability.

Delivery Capabilities 

Further supporting Alta Fuels’ customers is its subsidiary, Alta Transportation, a Colorado based fuel and oil distributor delivering petroleum products to both the wholesale and retail markets throughout Colorado, New Mexico, Kansas and Nebraska. With its fleet of 30 truck-transports, Alta Transportation loads and hauls fuel directly from pipeline terminals and from Alta Fuels’ Alamosa and Pueblo West automated fuel terminals.  Each transport is capable of hauling up to 8,500 gallons of product to customers, on-time with consistent professional service.  Working closely with the Alta Fuels sales team, who monitor and anticipate their customers’ products and service needs, Alta Transportation’s 24 hours, 7 days a week manned dispatch team, skilled drivers and a well-maintained modern fleet stand ready to ensure on-time and accurate deliveries.

24 Hour Dispatch Team 

Dispatch for the Alta Transportation fleet is programmed from the corporate office in Denver using the most current dispatching systems available to trucking allowing Alta the ability to stay in constant contact with all drivers, in all situations.  Operated 24 hours a day and 7 days a week with a staff of five dispatchers utilizing TMW software systems, this highly trained staff makes certain fuels are available on a where-as-where-needed basis, ensuring accurate and on-schedule deliveries.

Quality Control

  Providing high quality fuel is of paramount importance to Alta Fuels. To assure our customers that this standard of excellence is met, Alta Fuels has an on-site laboratory at the Alamosa plant with a full-time chemist on staff as well as a testing area at the Pueblo West terminal.  alta labIn addition to testing and pre-certifying all transport loads prior to unloading product into Alta Fuels storage tanks, lab personnel run tests required by the EPA and the states’ standards regulations for each respective fuel type. The Alta lab further examines the fuel beyond the federal and state requirements ensuring our customers of the highest quality product.
