Food and beverage processors typically use high volumes of water as an ingredient, as a transportation medium for raw product, or in the plant sanitization processes. A processor’s raw product can also include significant water content that is removed and discarded during processing. As a result, food and beverage processors generate wastewater that must be dealt with.

Processors are continually facing changing environmental regulations, rising costs for wastewater disposal, increasing utility costs, and a growing demand for green products manufactured using sustainable operations.
