Founder and CEO Moses Shepherd

Moses Shepherd is the Founder and CEO of ACE Petroleum, a Detroit-based national fuel supplier. The company is a certified Minority Business Enterprise through the Michigan and National Minority Supplier Development Councils.  Prior to launching his new company, in May 2017, Shepherd focused on his real estate company Ace Investment Group, LLC, which he founded in June 2003. Initially, he refurbished historical properties, but has since broadened his portfolio. His company exclusively purchases properties in the city of Detroit. Unlike many area real estate property “flippers,” Ace Investment buys, renovates, holds and leases its properties.  Shepherd’s mission is to help revitalize Detroit by providing attractive and contemporary housing options for residents and businesses. Consequently, entire city blocks are now more attractive and safer. Over the last 14 years, his real estate company has purchased hundreds of duplexes, single- and multi-family homes, and apartment building units.  Today, Ace Investment Group represents the largest African American owned apartment portfolio in the city of Detroit. Additionally, along with its management company Jackson ACE, they’re the largest housing provider for local nonprofit agencies in the City and assist hundreds of families in a common mission to help eradicate homelessness.  Shepherd is a Detroit native and was born on June 25, 1965. He graduated from Western International High School in 1983 and attended the Detroit College of Business.  In 1987, Shepherd began his career as a district manager at an area fuel distribution company, which owned 40 metropolitan Detroit convenience stores. He had daily operational oversight of eight of the stores, managing nearly 100 employees. While in this role, he turned the stores around making all eight profitable. This experience fostered his interest in and passion for the fuel and oil business.  With an entrepreneurial vision and a strong work ethic, Shepherd founded and nurtured several successful startups before launching Ace Investment Group, in 2003. For more than 30 years Shepherd has invested in Detroit. His business development insight and understanding of the Detroit market led him to found ACE Petroleum and build upon his petroleum wholesale experience.
