A+ Solar Solutions is a 100% Canadian company, providing solar solutions for British Columbia and New Brunswick and founded by Joost de Bruijn. After finishing my master’s degree at the University of Technology in Eindhoven (The Netherlands) in 1989, I have been working as a business consultant, director, and president of various consulting firms and contractors. Apart from that I am also involved in multiple forms of voluntary work and am the founder of Beyond Borders, a foundation that helps the poor and needy in Kenya to build a sustainable future for themselves by setting up small businesses.  A+ Solar Solutions provides site surveys, independent advice, designs, sales, project management, and installation of solar systems for our clients to become more self-sufficient and reduce their carbon footprint.  The roots for A+ Solar Solutions are going back to the purchase of my first solar panels in June 2011, followed by a 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th system in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015. Working as a business consultant for many years, I provided consultancy to a major installer of solar systems in 2016.  Being aware of all the opportunities solar energy can provide, I attended the Climate Change Forum in April 2017 in Salmon Arm. This event led to a group of enthusiastic people, all excited by the opportunities of solar energy and eager to put solar power on our local agenda.  Based on our wish to put action to our words, the Shuswap Solar Energy Society was founded on November 11, 2017. On January 24, 2018, the first General Meeting was held, where I was elected to the Board of Directors.  To foster the practical development of solar energy and being able to provide detailed, well-substantiated solutions to potential clients, I decided to take matters to the next level and combine my voluntary work with professional advice, sales, and installation.
