3megawatt was founded as a result of a simple observation: the installed base of operational renewable energy assets is growing very fast, but the industry has no appropriate tools to manage these assets.
Our founder and CEO Edmee Kelsey experienced this problem first hand when she assumed financial and asset management responsibility for a large distributed operational solar portfolio in 2009.
In 2012 Lightsource Renewable Energy asked 3megawatt for help setting up their solar asset management activities. Like many companies, they were using spreadsheets to manage their solar asset portfolio. In response, 3megawatt developed the first commercially available solar asset management software.
