Turkiye, Azerbaijan Extended Natural Gas Agreement Until 2030

SEATTLE (Oil Monster): Turkiye and Azerbaijan announced that they have decided to extend the natural gas agreement between both the countries until the end of the current decade.

A deal was signed by the Turkish Petroleum Pipeline Corporation (BOTAS), Azerbaijan’s state energy company, SOCAR, and Azerbaijan Gas Supply Company (AGSC) to share and supply natural gas resources, during the 29th International Caspian Oil & Gas Exhibition during Baku Energy Week held recently at Baku, the capital city of Azerbaijan.

Additionally, BOTAS and SOCAR also signed four agreements on the delivery and exchange of natural gas. These agreements will ensure transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Europe and Nakhchivan through Turkey. These will also facilitate delivery of Turkmenistan gas to Turkey.

The meeting also saw extension of the previous natural gas agreement which is set to expire by end-2024. The deal will now cover the exchange and supply of natural gas from Turkmenistan to Turkiye and until Europe until 2030.

The growing co-operation between Turkey and Azerbaijan has contributed significantly to the energy security of the region and Europe, apart from benefiting both the countries, said a message from Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of Turkiye.
