Nigerian Troops Destroyed Illegal Refning Sites in Niger Delta

SEATTLE (Oil Monster):  The Nigerian Army's 6th Division dismantled crude oil thieves' hideouts in the Niger Delta region. A total of 18 people have been arrested in connection with the raid.

Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah, Acting Deputy Director of 6 Division Army Public Relations, stated in a news release that the troops had neutralised two armed vandals and retrieved two AK 47 weapons. Seven boats were destroyed. In addition, eight unlawful connection points were located, resulting in the seizure of several thousands of litres of stolen goods.

Additionally, two active illegal refining sites were deactivated at Imo River. Several wooden boats, pumping machines and stolen products were seized during the operation.

A firefight, followed by a gun duel, was reported between troops and criminal groups, and the Army stopped criminal attempts to vandalize the Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) pipeline.

Major General Jamal Abdussalam, the General Officer Commanding of 6 Division, praised the troops for their effective operations throughout the region. He reaffirmed the Division's commitment to maintaining continuing operations in accordance with its responsibility to protect the region's essential infrastructure.
