SEATTLE (Oil Monster): The Nigerian Army 6th Division's Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Jonah Danjuma, released a statement stating that its troops have dismantled 43 illicit crude oil refining facilities around the Niger Delta and arrested 19 alleged oil thieves.
About 260,000 liters of stolen crude oil products were seized as a result of the operations carried out in in four states. Eleven cars, twenty-one boats, and eleven motorcycles were also confiscated for crude oil theft.

Over the course of one week, from November 4 to November 10, 2023, the operations were conducted in the states of Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, and Delta. These were a part of the Army's stepped-up campaign to stop illicit refining operations in the area.
Troops demolished seven operational illicit refining facilities in Rivers state alone, confiscating more than 60,000 liters of illegally refined oil. In Akwa Ibom, soldiers confiscated multiple trucks conveying stolen oil and stopped two tankers carrying 96,000 liters of stolen crude. A tanker truck carrying 45,000 liters of pilfered goods was stopped in Delta State. A vehicle carrying 1,500 liters of stolen automobile gas oil was stopped by troops in Bayelsa State.
General Officer Commanding the 6th Division, Major General Jamal Abdussalam, praised the troops' achievements and encouraged them to keep up the good work.
