Honeywell to Deliver Advanced LNG Technology to Mozambique

SEATTLE (Oil Monster): At the Rovuma LNG project, which is situated on the Afungi peninsula in the municipality of Palma, Honeywell will provide its special technology for purifying natural gas before it is liquefied.

ExxonMobil, Eni S.p.A., and the China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) are partners in the Mozambique Rovuma Venture (MRV), which will deploy Honeywell UOP's temperature swing adsorption-based SeparSIV heavy hydrocarbon removal unit and MolSIV unit for carbon dioxide and water removal.

Using an adsorption-based system, Honeywell's unique technology eliminates heavy hydrocarbons, and mercury in addition to carbon dioxide and water. During operation, the technique ensures little pressure loss.

The technology will optimize production efficiency while improving natural gas quality and guaranteeing that it satisfies stringent industry requirements, according to Rajesh Gattupalli, President of Honeywell UOP. Meanwhile, Honeywell's incorporation into its design shows the company's dedication to innovation and environmental responsibility, according to Arne Gibbs, General Manager of ExxonMobil Mozambique.

It is anticipated that the Rovuma LNG facility will use 12 modular LNG liquefaction trains to generate 18 million tpy of LNG.
