SEATTLE (Oil Monster): The latest weekly petroleum status report published by the U.S. Energy Information (EIA) noted that U.S. commercial crude oil inventories, excluding the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR), recorded a jump of 1.4 million barrels during the most recent week ended March 7, 2025. The report was released on March 12.

As per the report, crude oil stocks, not including the SPR, stood at 435.2 million barrels on March 7. This compares with 433.8 million barrels on February 28. The inventories were down by almost 5% when matched with the five year average during the same time of the year. The crude oil in SPR stood at 395.6 million barrels on March 7, upon comparison with 395.3 million barrels on February 28.

The total petroleum stocks stood at 1.594 billion barrels on March 7, said the report. The total stocks were down 5.7 million barrels week on week, but stood higher by 15.2 million barrels year on year.

U.S. crude oil refinery inputs averaged 15.7 million barrels per day during the week ending March 7, higher than the previous week’s average by 321,000 barrels per day. Also, refineries operated at 86.5 percent of their operable capacity during the previous week.

The report stated that U.S. crude oil imports averaged 5.5 million barrels per day last week, down by 343,000 barrels per day from the week before that.
